| | | | How to Use Secure Messaging | |
 | Secure email should be used whenever you require a non-urgent appointment scheduled, a routine prescription refilled, or a non-emergent question answered. We want our patients to call for immediate needs, but email us otherwise.
We use secure email for our practice's patients only. Any person with access to the World Wide Web can register on our site, but we will only approve our patients for email. Here's how:
Step 1: Register on the site by clicking "New User" in the upper right hand corner of the practice home page or any individual physician's home page.
Fill out as much information as possible in the registration. Create a User ID and password. Some of the other data allows us to identify you if we are trying to access lab data from the laboratory that we use regularly. Other information can be helpful if we need to contact you by phone after regular office hours. NOTE: The ID and password HAVE to be 6 digits or letters long and the birthdate HAS to be formatted as "mm/dd/yyyy" to be accepted.
Step 2: Send your registration!! However at this point you still cannot use secure email.
Step 3: You will receive a welcome message from us in your regular email box. It will contain a hyperlink which you click and then enter your ID and password. You will be presented with a "Terms of Service" agreement which explains your responsibilities and my responsibilities regarding online communication. Once you have accepted this agreement, you can use secure messaging!!!
When you want to initiate a secure message, you have to log in, then click "Send or Check Messages with:" in the box on the right.
Some of our patients send us their first message as a reply to the welcome message. Others click "back" at the bottom of the welcome message and then choose their specific type of message:
Online Consultation
General message
Prescription refill request
Appointment request
